Mayor’s Cadet

The Mayor’s Cadet is chosen annually from the Air Training Corps, Army Cadets, Fire and Rescue Cadets, Scouts or Guides.  The Council invites the Commanding Officer or Leader of the various groups to nominate candidates each February.  The Deputy Mayor reviews the nominations and meets the candidates with a view to appointing and swearing in the new Cadet at Mayor Making in May.  The Cadet is presented with a badge of office.  The Mayor’s Cadets duties will be:

• Attendance at Mayor Making.
• Participation in Mayoral Processions/Civic Service.
• Participation in the Remembrance Sunday Parade and Services.
• Other occasions as requested by the Town Mayor.  It is anticipated opportunities will arise to attend (with the Mayor) a wide variety of local cultural and community events, including those of other local towns and civic dignitaries.

MAYOR’S CADET 2026/27

Jenson Webb has been a dedicated Fire Cadet for several years, demonstrating strong commitment, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout his time in the programme. He transferred to the Knutsford Cadet Unit when it re-opened in September 2025, where he has quickly become a valued and active member.

Alongside his cadet duties, Jenson is currently fundraising to support Classrooms in the Cloud, an initiative that provides educational facilities in remote areas of Nepal. Later this year, he will be travelling with fellow Fire Cadets from across the county to take part in this project, combining community service with a global outlook.

Jenson’s dedication to helping others, both locally and internationally, makes him a fantastic representative as Knutsford’s Mayor’s Cadet for the year.
