It is recommended that applicants thoroughly read the council’s grants policy before making an application and where necessary contact the Town Clerk for advice on your application.

MULTI-YEAR FUNDING AGREEMENTS
The Town Council will consider requests for a multi-year funding agreement covering between two and four years. Organisations seeking a single year of funding must apply through the council’s community grant scheme (above). For agreements of less than £2,000 per year, the relevant committee will consider the application and this will be ratified by the Finance Committee. For any amounts above £2,000, a decision will be taken by Full Council.
Where an organisation wishes to secure an agreement, it must provide:
- A proposal document which sets out the reason for the request and provides a breakdown of how any funding would be spent. The proposal should explain why the council’s financial support is being sought and the impact it will have on the community. The document should set out how the organisation is governed, it’s financial position, any strategy/objectives the organisation has, how the proposal algins with the council’s strategic plan and the impact of not securing the funding.
- A current (mid-year) statement of accounts and the most recent two year’s year end account
The council will usually only enter into an agreement which aligns with the start of it’s financial year (1st April), therefore a proposal must be received by 31st August (<£2,000) or 31st October to be considered. A proposal can be sent to townclerk@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk. It is advisable to contact the Town Clerk in advance of submission.
A meeting of the council and the organisation will be held to discuss the proposal. This must be attended by senior representatives of the organisation who must be prepared to answer questions from members of the council. A report will then be prepared for the next suitable meeting, the organisation should attend the meeting to answer any further questions from the meeting.
An organisation may only have one active funding agreement. In the event of an organisation wishing to make a new proposal it must either incorporate the existing agreement or replace it. Following approval of an agreement, the organisation must sign a funding agreement.
