TABLEY HILL CHAPEL

Tabley Hill Chapel is a grade II listed building in the centre of Knutsford Cemetery. The chapel opened in December 1901 and underwent a thorough refurbishment and modernisation in 2021 to bring it back into active use for both the cemetery and wider community. The chapel is available to hire for funeral services, community use and other appropriate events and activities and is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies.

The chapel comprises an octagonal main hall, an accessible toilet with baby change facilities and a small kitchenette with a microwave, kettle and fridge/freezer. The kitchenette include small plates, cups and saucers, cutlery and glasses which are available to use by hirers.

A discounted hire rate is provided to community uses which includes local organisations, clubs and societies.

To hire the chapel, please contact the Town Council on enquiries@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk or 01565 653 929 to check availability. You will then be asked to complete and submit the hire agreement and payment for the booking.

WEDDINGS AT THE TABLEY HILL CHAPEL

The Tabley Hill Chapel is an approved premises for the holding of civil wedding ceremonies. If you would like to discuss holding your special day here, please contact us.

We charge a set fee of £450 (inc VAT) for a week day (Mon-Thur) service and £600 for a weekend (Fri-Sun) service. This is for the exclusive hire of the chapel for the full day to enable any set up or decoration you wish to arrange for the room. A deposit of 50% is required at the point of booking with the balance paid 6 weeks prior to the ceremony.

FUNERALS AT TABLEY HILL CHAPEL

Funeral services have been held at the chapel since it was built in 1901 ahead of burials in the surrounding cemetery. The majority of bookings for funerals will be made via your Funeral Director as part of planning the funeral and Knutsford’s local funeral directors are familiar with the chapel and booking requirements. You can also book directly with us if you are arranging your own service.

We charge a set fee of £200 per service. This is for a four hour booking slot to ensure you have sole use of the chapel for the duration of the service and afterwards should mourners wish. The room will be set up for use at the service and time provided for any floral tributes or photographs to be displayed before the funeral arrives.

My wife died  during the COVID lockdown and we were restricted to a maximum of forty people at the cremation which meant only close family and friends could attend. Since then I had been looking for a suitable venue at which to lay my wife’s ashes and have finally had chosen the specially dedicated area at Knutsford Cemetery. I also hired the very nicely refurbished chapel where all the facilities were available for light refreshments to be served. The help and assistance I received from the Town Council was very much appreciated and the area where the burial plaque is sited is very attractive.
