MARKET HALL
Knutsford Market Hall was built in 1964 and since then has been trading from the same central location on Silk Mill Street as a traditional market hall. It’s home to several traders, many of whom are Knutsford born and bred.
COMMUNITY VENUE
When the market hall isn’t hosting small businesses, it is available to hire as a community venue – it’s a bright open space that can accommodate 50 seated and around 75 standing, perfect for social functions, charity events and more.
KNUTSFORD MARKET HALL

The Market Hall is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday every week from 9am to 4pm. It also opens on the first Sunday of the month for the Makers Market (Feb – Nov) and during the Christmas Market (first weekend in Dec).
All the traders are easy to contact outside of these hours if you are looking to order online, arrange a delivery or collection. This means the market offers both 21st century convenience alongside traditional customer service.
The Market Hall underwent a refurbishment in 2025 and comprises 10 fixed traders and pop-up casual traders.
TRADING AT KNUTSFORD MARKET HALL
The Market Hall comprises a number of fixed stalls and space for up to five pop-up/casual traders.
Our permanent stalls are currently fully occupied, but we welcome enquiries for future reference.
From October 2026 we are launching monthly themed pop-ups each Saturday, and welcome trader applications:
- 1st Saturday – Health, Wellness, Self-Care and Lifestyle
- 2nd Saturday – Home, garden, flowers, plants, interiors and crafts
- 3rd Saturday – Menswear, womenswear, accessories and jewellery
- 4th Saturday – Childrenswear, toys and children’s books
- 5th Saturday – Charities, non-profits, local causes and community groups

MARKET TRADER POLICIES
HIRING KNUTSFORD MARKET HALL
When the Market Hall isn’t hosting small businesses, it is available to hire as a community venue.
The Market Hall is a bright open space that can accommodate 50 seated and around 75 standing. It is perfect for social functions, charity events and more.
The Market Hall has a small kitchenette for teas/coffees and an accessible toilet. A projector/screen can be provided on request.
The venue can be hired at the following times:
- Monday from 1pm to 11pm
- Tuesday from 6pm to 11pm
- Wednesday from 9am to 11pm
- Thursday from 6pm to 11pm
- Friday from 6pm to 11pm
- Saturday from 6pm to 11pm *unavailable on the first and last Saturdays of the month*
- Sunday from 9am to 11pm *unavailable on the first and last Sundays of the month*
*Weekend hire (Saturdays and Sundays) is limited as above on the first and last weekends of the month due to our Makers Market and Vintage Market.
Fees for hire are as follows:
- £21/hr for Standard Hire
- £15.60/hr for Charities and Community Organisations
The minimum hire period is 3hrs. All prices are inclusive of VAT.
If you are hiring the market for a party hiring a cleaning service is mandatory.
HIRE FAQs
In general, the Market Hall is available for hire as follows:
- Mondays from 1pm to 11pm
- Tuesdays from 6pm to 11pm
- Wednesdays from 9am to 11pm
- Thursdays from 6pm to 11pm
- Fridays from 6pm to 11pm
- Saturdays from 6pm to 11pm *
- Sundays from 9am to 11pm *
*Weekend hire (Saturdays and Sundays) is limited as above on the first and last weekends of the month due to our Makers Market and Vintage Market*
The Market Hall is also unavailable to hire during the following 2026 dates over the festive period:
- Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December (during our Christmas Markets)
- Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th December
- from Thursday 17th December until Friday 1st January
We can provide a Cleaning Service for £50. This waives your obligation to dispose of waste arising from the hire and clean any excessive soiling/spillages.
It is mandatory to hire the cleaning service if you are hosting an evening party.
We can provide a Caretaking Service for £50. This includes set up and pack down of tables and chairs to a pre-agreed layout. If you do not select this service, you must ensure the tables and chairs are put back ready for the next day of trading.
Once your booking has been confirmed by us, you will receive a Market Hire Agreement via Adobe. This must be signed and returned within 14 days of receipt.
Payment is due within 7 days of the agreement being signed. Payment can be made via BACS.
If we do not receive your signed agreement and payment in a timely fashion, we reserve the right to cancel your booking.
Once your booking is confirmed and we have received your signed agreement and payment, we will arrange a time to meet. A Town Council Officer will meet you at the market and ensure you are fully briefed on how to access the kitchen, open the shutters etc.
The keys will either be handed to you during your meeting at the market or you can collect them from the council offices. Keys MUST be returned either immediately after the event or the following morning at the latest. They can be returned to the Council Offices via its secure letter box. Lost keys will incur a £50 penalty charge.
You cannot place any decorations on the traders’ stalls whatsoever. You may place balloons and other small decorations in the market itself, and these must be removed after the event.
