ET24/054 WINTER GRITTING
It was agreed that it could be beneficial for certain pavements, such as in the town centre, to be gritted during extended cold spells, that grit bins needed to be inspected before the winter season to identify those which have not been filled and that the town council could re-fill grit bins where Cheshire East Council does not. It was noted that it was not always understood that grit bins can be used to grit pavements.
It was agreed that the town council leading some winter preparedness measures should be explored, to include public awareness, checking grit bins and promoting useful contacts for problems. It was also agreed that the council’s operations team undertaking targeting gritting and refilling grit bins should be explored.
