EN22/033 CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES
It was RESOLVED to confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 25th July.
EN22/034 REVIEW OF YEAR-TO-DATE INCOME AND EXPENDITURE
The year-to-date income and expenditure was noted.
EN22/035 NATURE ACTION PLAN
The progress of the Nature Action Plan and the activity for the Great Big Green Week was noted.
Cllr Abel highlighted that the Cheshire East ward members had submitted a notice of motion calling on Cheshire East Council to change its policy and allow tree planting in land held as highway.
EN22/036 REVIEW OF WEED SPRAYING
A report noting the increased Town Ranger time required to maintain weeds following the suspending the use of herbicide was noted. A motion to permit targeting weed spraying by the council’s operational team failed. It was agreed to investigate developing a volunteer team to support the Town Ranger in manually clearing weeds from ginnels and the town centre.
EN22/037 COMMITTEE BUDGET 2023/24
It was RESOLVED to submit the draft budget to the Finance Committee as presented.
EN22/038 OUSTANDING MATTERS LOG
The log was noted and the Town Clerk responded to questions stating that permissions were awaited from Cheshire East Council to progress certain matters. Cllr Abel undertook to chase Cheshire East officers internally.
EN22/039 QUESTIONS TO THE TOWN CLERK
The Town Clerk responded to questions advising that the new plaque for the King Edward VII tree had been installed, that he would convene a meeting with ANSA to discus weedspraying by their staff, that the council’s Environmental Audit action plans included measures to increase sustainable procurement, that the newly installed bench at Longridge would be fitted with a plaque and that there had been no update from the NHS or partners related to the new medical centre.
