ET24/019 DECLARATIONS OF MEMBERS’ INTERESTS
Cllr Russell declared a personal interest in ET24/024 as chair of Cycle Knutsford and ET24/023 as the owner of a business selling refillable products.
ET24/020 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
A representative of Plastic Free Knutsford spoke about the objective of reducing the number of single use coffee cups used in Knutsford and other initiatives that could be copied from other towns to promote a reduction in single use plastics.
ET24/021 CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES
It was RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the meeting held on 24th June.
ET24/022 REVIEW OF YEAR TO DATE INCOME AND EXPENDITURE
The committee income and expenditure year-to-date was noted.
ET24/023 PLASTIC FREE TOWN
It was RESOLVED to support the support the work being undertaken for Knutsford to be certified as a Plastic Free Town.
Cllr McCulloch voted against the resolution.
It was RESOLVED that Cllr Robertson represent the council on the steering group.
ET24/024 DOG WOOD CYCLE PATH
It was RESOLVED to include provision for the next surveys and detailed design of the path in the 2025/26 draft budget.
ET24/025 STREET NAMEPLATE REPLACEMENTS
It was RESOLVED to approve a programme of street nameplate replacements with a budget of up to £500, prioritising signs near the town centre and schools and inviting members to advise of any additional signs to include in the programme.
ET24/026 REPAIRS TO CANUTE MOSAIC PAVING
It was RESOLVED to approve works to repair the setts around the Canute mosaic and install a bench to deter parking in the area.
ET24/027 LOST STREETS PROJECT
It was RESOLVED to:
- implement a “lost streets” scheme of installing plaques to record historic names of streets as detailed in report ET-24-11
- approve the shortlisted streets in priority order as Love Lane, Bakehouse Yard, Caesars Place, Gas Street, Heathside/Market Green, Gannon Square, Laundry Lane and Chapel Street/Stable Street
- implement the scheme by installing two plaques per year
It was agreed the plaques should incorporate a QR code to provide further history on the sites and to seek funding from Aldi towards the Caesars Place plaque.
ET24/028 STRATEGIC PLAN
It was noted that the Tidy Town Taskforce has been established with local businesses providing additional weed clearance in the town centre and that this should be promoted and developed.
It was RESOLVED to approve the action plan for 2025/26 with the addition of implementing a scheme of NO2 monitoring.
Progress on actions in the current year action plan was noted.
ET24/029 COMMITTEE BUDGET 2025/26
It was RESOLVED to approve the draft budget as submitted and with the addition of a budget for the Dog Wood path detailed design work.
ET24/014 OUTSTANDING MATTERS LOG
The log was noted and the Town Clerk responded to questions providing updates on items.
ET24/015 QUESTIONS TO THE CLERK
The Town Clerk responded to questions stating that he would report to Cheshire East the potential issue of satellite navigation systems directing traffic down the one-way section of Stanley Road, would liaise with Knutsford in Bloom regarding spring bulbs and that he had not received reports of an increase in rats in the town centre. The Town Clerk further responded to a question stating that he was not aware of any discussion at Cheshire East Council concerning the bus services in Knutsford.
