DECLARATIONS OF MEMBERS’ INTERESTS

Cllr Dalzell declared a personal interest with respect to the Nature Action Plan as a trustee of the Crosstown Community Orchard. Cllr McCulloch declared a personal interest with respect to the Friends of St John’s Wood as a committee member and to the Coronation Tree Plaque as a committee member of Friends of the Heath.

REVIEW OF YEAR-TO-DATE INCOME AND EXPENDITURE

The report was noted.

 

NATURE ACTION PLAN

The updated was noted and members expressed support for replacing the tree planting area near St John’s Wood with a wildflower meadow.

 

COMMITTEE WORKING GROUPS

 The appointment of Cllrs Beswick, Dalzell and Houghton to the Nature Action Plan WG and Cllrs Beswick, Dalzell, Houghton and Nicholson to the Blue Plaques Appraisal Panel was supported.

 

FRIENDS OF ST JOHN’S WOOD

Members expressed support for commissioning an ecological survey of St John’s Wood to support the development of a masterplan for the site.

 

CHESHIRE EAST COUNCIL WEED SPRAYING

It was agreed the matter required more detailed exploration and that a balance between the general maintenance and environment needed to be found. It was agreed that before the next meeting members would consider:

 

  • Do they want a complete stop on all herbicide use in Knutsford/the borough?
  • Do they want to stop the yellowing/killing of areas around obstacles?
  • Would it be content for weeds to grow in areas where weed spraying currently takes place e.g. along highways, in the town centre etc.
  • Do they wish to invest Town Council resources (staff time and/or budget) in undertaking works to reduce the necessity for weed spraying e.g. strimming, planting or mulching

 

SPEEDING DATA

The speeding data for Beggarmans Lane was noted. It was agreed to send a note to the Head of Bexton School asking they remind parents of the 20mph zone at school times.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

 The proposed addition to policy was supported by members.

 

KING EDWARD VII CORONATION TREE PLAQUE

Members agreed that the existing plaque should be retained and a new additional plaque added with the precise wording to be agreed.
