EN22/005 COMMITTEE TERMS OF REFERENCE

The committee terms of reference were noted.

 

EN22/006 CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

It was RESOLVED to confirm the minutes of the meeting held on 7th February.

 

EN22/007 REVIEW OF YEAR-TO-DATE INCOME AND EXPENDITURE

The year-to-date income and expenditure was noted.

 

EN22/008 COMMITTEE WORKING GROUPS

Cllr Power joined the meeting.

It was RESOLVED to appoint Cllrs Beswick, Dalzell and Morris to the Nature Action Plan working group.

It was RESOLVED to appoint Cllrs Beswick, Dalzell, Houghton and Nicholson to the Blue Plaques appraisal panel.

 

EN22/009 NATURE ACTION PLAN

The progress of the Nature Action Plan to date was noted. It was noted the working group would be looking at securing additional funding for the delivery of the plan in the current financial year.

 

EN22/010 PROTECTION OF TREES

A motion to lobby government for amendments to s211 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and s198 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and for legislative protection of trees was proposed and seconded but failed.

It was RESOLVED to refer consideration of lobbying Cheshire East Council in respect of tree protection to the Nature Action Plan working group for it to bring a proposal back to a future meeting.

 

EN22/011 PLANTING OF TREES IN HIGHWAYS

It was RESOLVED to seek to install planters along King Edward Road to replace the fallen trees.

It was RESOLVED to lobby Cheshire East Council to secure a change in its policy on planting within highways as outlined in report EN-22-04.

 

EN22/012 BENCH FOR COMMUNITY GARDEN

It was RESOLVED to purchase and install a bench at the Longridge community garden.

 

EN22/013 INSTALLATION OF PLAQUE AT OBELISK

It was RESOLVED to install a small brass plaque at the base of the obelisk.

 

EN22/014 OUSTANDING MATTERS LOG

The log was noted and the Town Clerk provided an update in respect of the crowdfunding of the new cycle shelter and the installation of the bench in memory of the late Cllr Barbara Hamilton Coan.

 

EN22/015 QUESTIONS TO THE TOWN CLERK

The Town Clerk responded to questions stating that he would raise the issue of extending the double yellow lines at Mereheath Park with the Cheshire East ward councillors; confirming that Cheshire East Council had intimated they would discuss weed spraying with the council but had not yet stopped; confirming that the responsibility to maintain overgrown hedges falls on the landowner; that the installation of bollards on pavements was a Cheshire East Council matter but that the council had not been supportive of proposals in the past; that progressing the installation of dog poo bag dispensers and new bins was on his to-do-list; that he would raise the parking arrangements along Tatton Street and safety at the junction of Sugar Pit Lane/Tabley Road with the Cheshire East ward councillors.
