The Allotments at Sparrow Lane and Warren Avenue have been transferred through a 125 year lease to the Town Council; this follows the freehold transfer of public toilets and markets.

Town Mayor, Cllr Tony Dean said “I am delighted to see the third asset transfer complete and the Council looks forward to working with the Allotment Society on improving these Allotments. It is great to see there is such a demand for allotments in Knutsford.”

The Town Council will be working closely with the Allotment Society to improve facilities at the two sites and promote the allotments to residents. After a small investment to improve the sites from the town council the allotments will cover their own costs with all money generated through allotment rents being invested back into the two sites.

Chairman of the Allotment Society, Paul Howard said “Knutsford Allotment Society is looking forward to working with its new landlords, Knutsford Town Council, in continuing to manage its allotment gardens at Warren Avenue and Sparrow Lane. The Society will also be seeking, in partnership with Knutsford Town Council, to enhance allotment provision in Knutsford & to improve the existing sites. Any Knutsford resident who wishes to join the current waiting list for an allotment should visit the Knutsford Town Council website for details”

The Town Council is now working towards to the transfer of the Town Council Offices and three areas of public open space.
