The Mayor of Knutsford’s theme for his fundraising year is to promote activity and leisure within the Town. Part of the funds raised this year will be shared between local youth sports groups. The Mayor is also establishing a starter fund to build a multi-purpose skate park in Knutsford. In line with this theme the Mayor is planning to do two sponsored activities. A cycle tour of East Cheshire and a Cheshire Three Peaks Walk.
Mayor’s Three Peak Challenge – Sunday 4th October 2020
The Mayor and Mayoress plan to climb the Three Peaks of Cheshire, in one day, a circular walk, ascending Teggs Nose, Shutlingsloe and Shining Tor. The final route is still to be finalised, but is likely to be between 15 and 20 miles in length, starting at 8am, finishing around 5pm.
This continues the Mayor’s focus on youth, sport, health and fitness, while raising money for Knutsford youth sports, and towards a starter fund for a new skate park project.
This walk is also in memory of the Mayor’s father, who was an avid hiker, who sadly died in a fall while walking in Snowdonia back in 2005.
