Most Successful Market Yet

Knutsford was the place to be this weekend as the Town Council’s annual Christmas weekend event brought in thousands of people to enjoy the Christmas Markets, Light Switch On and Reindeer Parade.

The largest market yet featuring 138 traders certainly brought in the crowds with some traders selling an entire weekends stock in just one day! Numerous messages of thanks appeared on the @KnutsfordXmas twitter account from traders and visitors to the event, which included a coach party from Nottingham!

The Wag Tailor: “Just wanted to say thank you to your team for having us at the Christmas market this weekend. Like last year, we really enjoyed being part of it – it was a great atmosphere and very well organised from start to finish! Thanks again, hopefully see you next year”

Lisa Benskin, Deputy Town Clerk said she was very pleased that so many residents, visitors and traders had embraced the event, “We spend months planning the event so it’s great to receive such wonderful feedback from traders and see so many people enjoying themselves”.

We also had the largest crowd for the Lights Switch On which is testament to the quality of the acts that perform, from school choirs to Knutsford Rock Choir and upcoming local band ‘The White Hot Chilli Peppers’ to excellent vocalist Zoe Unsworth, and Tatton Singers to SMB Dance and Rokit  – there really is something for everyone.

The Christmas events continue this week with the St Cross Tree Festival taking place from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th December,  and the magical Lantern Parade at 5pm on Sunday leaving from St Cross Church, followed by the Community Crib Service. The Council will be launching a survey on their website to gather feedback from retailers, traders and residents on the event with the aim to further improve the event for 2017. If you would like to provide feedback but are not online please call 01565 653929 with your views and suggestions.
