The council offers enhanced terms (Green Book), 29 days holiday (pro-rata, including bank holidays) plus two extra days at Christmas. Employees are enrolled in the Cheshire Pension Fund – a career average defined benefit scheme.


Planning and Facilities Officer

Full Time (37 hours) | SCP 18-23 – £24,313 to £26,999

Playing a key role in delivering the council’s ambitions to provide excellent services to our community you will oversee a range of projects and ensure that our assets are effectively and successfully managed. You will manage the council’s role as a consultee on planning applications, clerking the planning committee, advising councillors on planning policy and overseeing the council’s monitoring obligations for its Neighbourhood Plan.

From coordinating projects to leading on Knutsford’s entry into the North West in Bloom competition you will manage a diverse and interesting workload. You will line manage four members of staff and have responsibility for health and safety and risk assessment.

The council will support you in obtaining CiLCA and the IOSH Managing Safely qualification within your first twelve months of employment.

Administration and Support Officer

22.5 hours per week | SCP 5-7 – £11,430 to £11,890 (actual)

You will be the first point of contact for visitors and members of the public, handling a range of enquiries and playing a vital role in conveying our ethos of a helpful and proactive council.

You will be an indispensable part of the council’s service delivery, processing applications to our community grant scheme, coordinating Taste Knutsford tours and undertaking the day-to-day administration of Knutsford Cemetery.

You will undertake a broad range of routine administration, from managing databases, reporting maintenance issues, maintaining stationery stocks and processing invoices to handling routine correspondence.
You will help us get our message out to the community by maintaining the council’s websites and social media accounts.

Cemetery Groundskeeper

Average of 16 hours per week | SCP 3-5 – £7,812 to £8,128 (actual)

Knutsford Town Council has taken back management of Knutsford Cemetery and we are looking for our first cemetery groundskeeper to help us deliver our vision of providing the best cemetery in Cheshire. You will be responsible for keeping the cemetery in an excellent condition, working to support our entries into the Cemetery of the Year and Green Flag awards.

You will cut the grass, maintain flowerbeds, level and seed graves and all other grounds maintenance issues that arise in the cemetery. You will ensure the Cemetery Chapel and toilets are kept in a good condition and that onsite benches and signage are kept clean and tidy. You will prepare graves for ashes interments and whilst an external contractor will preparing graves for coffin burials.

You will predominantly work outdoors – in all weathers. A uniform and PPE is provided and you will receive full training where necessary. You will have pride in making the cemetery a truly special place for the families who visit.

The role is an average of 16 hours per week, but you will work more hours in the spring/summer months and fewer in the autumn/winter. We pay you an equal monthly salary throughout the year.

March to September –  21 hours pw
October to February –  8 hours pw
