Sessions House Update

Following the town meeting to discuss the future of the Sessions House building; which is due to be sold by the Ministry of Justice, the Town Council has written to the town’s MP George Osborne and the Secretary of State for Justice, Chris Grayling MP representing the views of the community.

At a specially convened Town Council meeting on February 12th, the Town Council resolved to write to HMCTS, George Osborne MP and the MoJ stating that the Town Council has sought and recognises the views of members of the community at a public meeting that their preferred use of the Sessions House is as an Auction House/Fine Art and Antiques Salesroom with some community space provided.

The Town Council has already set out is primary aim of ensuring that the building has an element of public access.
