KnutsfordTown Mayor - Civic Events

The Mayoralty provides a vital link with our heritage, and the privileges and duties of the Mayor have reflected the changes in our society throughout history. While no longer having absolute powers, the Mayor Acts as the Chairman for the Town Council in a ceremonial role at local, state and other functions.
The Mayor has a full and varied engagement list during the year of office, ranging from support for local charities and their fund raising events, civic parades and school visits, receptions for visitors to Knutsford, promoting the town and defending its interests locally and nationally, and involvement with all local organisation’s and all sections of the community.

Mayors Objectives for the Year ahead

I am pleased to have been chosen to chair the Council for this municipal year and hope that together with my colleagues, we will be proud of what we can achieved for Knutsford.

However being the Mayor is not just about chairing the Council, it is about so much more.

The Mayor is the Town’s ambassador and I will make sure that I sell this Town and all it has to offer at every opportunity whenever I am out and about at civic events in neighbouring towns and parishes or further afield.

I believe the Town Mayor should be the link between the Council and the myriad of organisations and societies that exist within the town; the schools, churches, business and charitable institutions, the sports clubs, societies and youth groups.

So I say to our churches and faith groups invite me to join you in your Sunday services or special days of prayer.

To our schools invite me to attend your special assemblies, your sports days and your drama productions; remember this Town’s schools have helped to produce world-class sports stars and leading lights on the West End stage. Or just ask me in to explain to your students the role of the Mayor and how the Council works.

If You would like the Mayor to attend a function you are holding, please send an invitation to:
