Town Council

Knutsford Town Council is the council for the parish of Knutsford in Cheshire.  Being the lowest tier of local government for the area it is closest to the residents and businesses of the town.

The town's population is approximately 13,000.  The town is divided into 4 electoral wards:

Council Offices

 

 

The Town Council operates from the Council Offices, Toft Road, Knutsford.  The Town Council staff comprises the Town Clerk and his Assistant.  The work of the Town Council is defined by the decisions taken at the Town Council and, in some cases, its Committees.

The Town Council is funded through a Precept which is set annually by the Town Council and is based on the work it is intending to do during the forthcoming year.  The sum required is obtained through a "local tax" which is included in the level of Council Tax levied by the Borough of Macclesfield.
