Knutsford Welcomes You

Uniquely placed in the Green Belt, Knutsford in the 21st Century is an historic town, rich in heritage and brimming with variety.

Located on the old Liverpool-London Toll Road (A50), Knutsford has excellent communications with all parts of the country with easy access to the M6 and M56 motorways; rail connections to both Manchester and Chester, and bus services to local towns.  With the Manchester Airport just 10 miles away, in addition to easy access to Liverpool Airport, international travel is easily accessible.

Regarded by William Webb (1621) as a prosperous market town which was “extraordinarily well-traded”, Knutsford today is a bustling commuter town with a characterful shopping centre and many specialist shops from boutiques to antiques, purveyors of fine wines, cheeses and herbs, to interior design centres and art galleries.  From “Top Street” to “Bottom Street” there are some delightful surprises for visitors to explore with many quality restaurants and inns.

Judged as “an outstanding area of conservation”, the town centre contains many fine buildings of architectural and historic significance.  With its many floral displays from hanging baskets to planters and colourful borders, access to open heathland and the wonderful parkland of Tatton Park at the end of King Street, Knutsford is rightly regarded as one of the most attractive towns of its size in Cheshire.

A Town Guide produced by the Town Council is available from the Tourist Information Centre based in the Library (Toft Road) and The Heritage Centre (King Street).
