Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives people the general right to see recorded information held by public authorities. In an effort to provide greater openness and transparency, the Act helps people to get a better understanding of how public authorities carry out their duties, make decisions and spend public money.
The Town Council’s publication scheme, sets out the categories of information that are held and will routinely be made available to the public without the need to make a specific request. The separate information template, explains in greater detail the nature of the information falling within the various categories, and the manner in which it can be provided.
Any other information held by the Town Council, provided it is not defined as exempt under the Act, can be made available on request in writing (letter, email or fax) to the Town Clerk.
